Hunting in Wyoming

Hunting with Big Country Outfitters

replace_cow_elk We  provide  limited “guided” hunting opportunities. We believe that limiting the number of guided hunts will continue our long history of successful trophy quality harvests.   Our hunt success is enhanced by the large “closed road” areas and very limited access. There are some areas open to ATVs nearby, but be sure to respect the rules of the forest by staying on designated roads for such use.

We hunt Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope, Moose and an assortment of other game animals in the Hoback region of Wyoming. This remote, rugged back country is known for producing top quality trophies. A quick glance through any of the North America big game record books will make you realize that you will be hunting in a premier area, with the very real potential of taking a record book animal. Elk Hunts for our rifle combination hunts are held when many of the bulls are still bugling. Bow hunters will also enjoy great hunting opportunities during the prime weeks of early bugling.

Drop Camp “Do It Yourself”

We are the only outfitters with drop camps on the Big Piney Ranger District.

dscn0256

These are DIY “Do It Yourself” drop camps capable of accommodating 4-6 hunters each. You, your personal gear and food are packed via horseback into one of 3 camp locations. We provide the tents, cots, wood burning stove, cooking utensils, lanterns, propane and a start up supply of firewood. (Ax provided at no extra charge!) If you would like to have horses provided for your hunt, they are available through a local company. Pack out service is also available for your downed game for a very reasonable fee but is not included in the drop camp price. This is a great way to hunt on your own without the expense and trouble of setting up a comfortable camp.

General Information

All non-resident hunters must first apply for a hunting license through a draw system. Our knowledgeable staff will assist you by personally handling your applications for each species you are interested in applying for.

All guided hunts are 2×1 to insure you receive the quality, time, and attention a successful hunt requires. 1×1 hunts can also be arranged for an extra fee. You may also apply as a party with up to 6 hunters in your group. Each hunter will be assigned his or her own guide. Normally, we will leave together as a group and split up for the hunt when we reach the destination for that day. The prices below are all inclusive. This means you will only need to bring your personal items.

No Tellum Ridge

“There’s a place just north of nowhere
Where the big ones tend to hide
I’ve seen them in the mountains
Over valleys deep and wide.

Age it is important,
But size does play its part,
They say you’ll never find it
If you haven’t got the heart.
